Today's Storytime: The Story of Ruby Bridges

My mom came and read this book to our class today, The Story Of Ruby Bridges by Robert Coles. It is a good book. The whole class was very quiet when my mom read this book. It was about a girl named Ruby Bridges who was a black girl and she had to go to a white school. This was when there was segregation. The white people were made that she had to go to their school. They were mean to Ruby and they didn't send their children to the school so Ruby was alone in the school for months. Finally they started sending their kids to the school and now black and white kids are allowed to go to the same schools.

"Dress Up" fun - with fabric? 1 yard lengths are all you need for fun dress-up time.

You don't need a fancy wardrobe for your dress-up chest to have great dress-up fun - a few different 1-yard or 1.5-yard lengths of "fashion fabric" is just as fun! It wraps and drapes nicely, for an endless supply of dress-up outfits. It actually encourages more imaginative play when the outfits are not premade.

College Fund idea for kids! Sell art on Zazzle

My mom keeps thinking that I should upload my artwork to Zazzle and set up a card shop like this child did. I love the watercolor of this card! First I have to do some paintings. Then I have to photograph or scan them in. Finally I upload them to Zazzle to make fun things like cards and magnets, and describe them really well so people searching for them can find them. Then I can go to college!

Zazzle card from Annette: Karate Kat ocean scene

Check out this cool card I found at Zazzle.com.

Mint tea

I made some mint tea today using some altoid mints, sugar and water. And the microwave. I accidentally melted the handle of daddy's metal and plastic espresso cup the first time until my mom told me metal isn't allowed in the microwave. Oops!

Dino eggs for breakfast!

A spoonful of dinosaurs make the porridge go down! Dinosaur Eggs oatmeal by Quaker are 100% kid approved. This oatmeal contains small sugar dinosaurs wrapped in a softer sugar coating. The eggs "hatch" when the hot water melts away the white coating, leaving the colorful Dino shapes behind!
